Hi everyone,
Would you know what to do if a family member collapsed or stopped breathing? Ever wondered how you could help someone who is injured? This could be your chance to learn!
I’m a doctor working at the RVI in Newcastle. I also teach first aid and CPR in my free time. As you may have seen in the news, there’s been an on-going dispute between the doctors and government over changes in the NHS. As a result there will be a number of junior doctors strikes over the coming weeks. Regardless of politics, we would like to do something positive with these days, so are offering first aid and CPR training for free to members of the public.
The first dates are next week (6th and/or 7th April). If there’s demand, or this is too short notice, we could also do (26th and/or 27th April). The teaching is split into 2 sessions. The first focuses on collapse and CPR, the second on bleeding and first aid. Sessions last for between 1 and 2 hours. We provide our own equipment and venue (somewhere near the RVI/medical school, exact location depends on numbers). You would be welcome to do one or stay for both. All trainers will be qualified doctors (or student doctors, trained in basic life support and first aid).
Please get back to us on this thread, or by email ([email protected]). If there’s a lot of demand, we will recruit some more doctors to make the training as good as possible!
I look forward to hearing from you,
Charlie Johnson
