Secondary schools in Wokingham and bracknell

We are considering schools in boths of these areas. Ive heard edgbarrow school is excellent, however following the deputy head last there has been a mass exodus of teachers going with the deputy (these are rumours i have heard, could be absolute rubbish!).

Does anyone have any experience of the Wokingham state secondary schools?

Thanks

I'd consider posting on the main Mumsnet secondary education board, rather than local - there's an awful lot of very knowledgeable posters on there, and there seems to be knowledge right across the South East

Mrswheretogo, ive posted on both! ☺

Oh, what a shame that you haven't had a response yet! On the other hand, a lot of people have just got through the whole process of applications and results, both in state and private. So maybe the boards are a bit quieter. If you don't get any joy, perhaps posting a bit later in the summer might produce a bit more response. Hope you get somewhere with your query!
Happy Easter

Hi Tulip,

I know many of them well. Sorry I haven't replied before but only just seen this. What would you like to know more about? You can PM me if you like.

Sian

Just general information such as pastoral care, teaching, student behaviour etc. Also any information regarding junior schools in crowthorne would be appreciated!

Many thanks

Really, Ofsted reports are a good start but really not the be-all and end-all. You have to go and look around the schools yourself. You will know which ones you like and which will fit your child.
If you're in Crowthorne then really the only state secondary is Edgbarrow. Possibly Sandhurst. From my dealings with both school, my personal preference would be for Sandhurst although Edgbarrow is outstanding on paper.
For junior schools in Crowthorne, I believe C of E is the better school but actually I don't think there is much between them. Hatch Ride or Oaklands would be my second choice, but again that's my personal preference.

Why would sandhurst be your personal preference?

I felt the pastoral care was better and I liked the feel of it more than Edgabarrow. I suggest you go and visit them and see which you like better!

Hope this isn't too late for you...
DH and I went to Forest and Holt respectively around 2000-2007; those are good options for single-sex schools.
