I have been asked by a prominent male angler how we can get more women fishing, I told him that advertising needs to be aimed at women more and that the stigma that women cant fish needs to be banished to the dark ages. I was wondering how many women out there actually love fishing (as much as I do anyway) and I also think that venues need to be more female friendly in what is at the moment a mainly male dominated sport. Also I think some women feel intimated to go fishing by themselves and that the idea of going by themselves is daunting due to safety and ridicule especially at night, I would like to get an idea of how wanglers (women anglers) are out there and what ideas and things you would like to see out there and it would also encourage more children to take up this brilliant activity and I also think a range of clothing especially aimed at women and children would be a good idea. Ideas will be passed on to the relevant parties with permission and acknowledgement. Thank you. xxx

Hi I hope your still here!

I suffer from a panic disorder and have agoraphobia which has made me almost housebound, I also have 3 children 15yr old girl, 12yr old boy and another boy who is 8yrs! I met my partner 10yrs ago and introduced him to fishing! :D

I love it myself I've found this the only hobby I can do without the panicking, well that's a lie! I have to take a pop up tent and a toilet to calm me down as this is my main fear! (Needing the loo!)

My eldest isn't keen but if she is taken to the venue she will take part and is more than happy when catching, both the boys love fishing and have gone with dad if I've not been able to go.

We've had many comments about me fishing when I am and the fact the kids are fishing too! I've also commented when I've seen teenagers 14/15yrs turning up to night fish (something I've never done!) I love the fact my kids love it, it's almost free if you have the tackle, dig some worms up! What a better way to keep out of trouble!

Love love love the sport and would love to see other women fishing, mind you my mum fishes and she catches nothing! I swear it's cause she is fishing nothing else!! lol

Fingers crossed for more women and kids to take on this sport!
(I used to get over excited about river comps when I was little, I used to win a prize even for catching minos lol)
