SAHM wanting to make friends

Hello everyone!

This is the first time I've ever posted on here or any kind of chat site really. My DH and our 3 kids moved to Wallington from East London just over a year ago. Whilst they have all settled well, its been harder for me to say the least!

Formally a primary school teacher, now being a SAHM to my 2 1/2 year DS is both wonderful and the hardest thing I have ever done in my life..ever!!!

Basically, my DS will be joining his two sisters at school in September and I am hoping to get back into working and that my Performing Arts School will take off. To say I've lost my confidence is an understatement and as I have very few friends or family living near, I thought I would do something very out of the ordinary for me and try to reach out to any other mums who might want to meet up during the day for a coffee and a chat, take the kids to the park or a group etc.

If you fancy it, let me know!

Hi hilsnyarko1

Welcome to Mumsnet Sutton and thank you for posting! It can be isolating when you move away from your support network, particularly when stuck at home with young children. Now that the weather is warming up it should be easier to meet other mums when you're out and about too.

It may be too short notice for you, but we are having a Brew and Cake at Patisserie Valerie in central Sutton tomorrow morning (just across from Waterstones Book Shop) (from 10.15am), if you're interested? Several other new to the area/forum mums should be coming. Hopefully see you there?

Kate & Helen.

Hello! I was in a similar position a few years ago and the NCT playgroup in Carshalton was a lifeline for me. It's on Wednesday mornings during term time at the West St Evangelical Church (not affiliated with the church, they just rent the hall). Really nice group and I made a lot of good friends there :) My DC are too old for all that now

Also, if you're on FB have a look at the Carshalton Mums page - it does cover surrounding areas as well and is a brilliant source for everything from tradespeople recommendations to like minded groups meeting up.

I well remember those early days of being new to the area and knowing no one, but a few years on I feel very at home and glad we came here :)

Thank you for your message! It does feel better when someone else has gone through the same thing and says it does get easier!

Hi there Hilsnyarko1

I also moved to Wallington just over a year ago with my partner and our now 2.5 year old. I'm back at work part time but very much up for meeting up on one of my days off as it would be great to get to know some other mums in the area.

Hi Printgirl! Thanks for your reply! I'd love to meet up one day, maybe go to the park. I'm not working at the moment, so when's best for you?
