Bertrum House Pre-Prep Department

We would like to let you know that we are making some changes at Bertrum House School, effective from September 2016. Regretfully the Pre-Prep department will not be continuing after this academic year, ending in August 2016. We are delighted, however, that we will be able to extend our current Nursery and Pre-School provision to meet the needs and requirements of our current and future parents.

As you may know Bertrum House started 30 years ago as a Nursery school. Then, in order to meet the demand for pupils from schools that in those days started at 7 and 8 plus, the Pre-Prep department was established. Over the last few years, however, the call for schools providing only Pre-Prep education in the Wandsworth area has declined, as more and more Prep schools have opened their own infant departments, and now offer places from Reception onwards.

From September 2016, therefore, we will be going back to our roots to provide excellent Early Years provision through our Nursery and Pre-Reception classes. There will be some changes to the structure of the department and we hope that this will better enable us to support the needs of our families.

We are very excited to inform you that the new Nursery school will be based at the current Pre-Prep site at 290 Balham High Road, where we will be able to take advantage of the large field, playgrounds, hall, and dedicated classroom spaces.

We are pleased to be able to offer both part time (8.45am until 12.00pm) and full time (8.45am until 3.15pm) spaces for the Nursery and Pre-Reception classes from September onwards. Parents can also choose a combination of both full days and half days, (and half days plus lunch for children over 3 years old), if this better suits their home and work patterns.

We are very sad to be saying goodbye to our wonderful Pre-Prep children and their families but are looking forward to providing a fantastic Pre-School experience for local children.
