Has anyone got any thoughts on the senior school ?
My son is at Sandringham currently and in year 8 . He is not sporty or arty but bright . He seems not to be flourishing at school and is plodding along just above average putting little effort in but not getting challenged as all work is done and on time and above average . This is in total contrast to primary school where he was engaged focused and generally in the top 3 for everything .!
I'm
Not worried if he has reached his level and has come up against brighter kids but I just don't think he is being recognised ,stretched and challenged. He is also not taking part in extra ciricular activities .

I was wondering if a change of environment to a smaller school would benefit him .

I am concerned by reports that St Columbas takes anyone who applies and has a problem with discipline and pastoral car and is best for sporty kinds ?

Hi I'm not sure what the inside opinion is on St Columba's but my son comes across them in sport and it's true that they do excel there certainly in the lower years of secondary! I know Terry Leahy's (ex Tesco) sons went there and were really happy with the school, having withdrawn them from a selective school. I would hope that pastorally the school would be good. Have you looked around it yet?

Hi yes we have and he sat the entrance exams , it looks fine . Whether he gets in remains to be seen ! I think for me it depends on how he feels about it and he seemed to love it . We considered it for year 7 but decided to stay in the state system . I think it may be worth a change for him
If he gets in . Thanks
