Thank you so much to those of you who attended the Stockport MSLC meeting last Thursday evening. It was fantastic to see such a good turn out and such a willingness to try to understand perinatal mental health and improve mental health care for parents in Stockport.
Here’s a quick synopsis of the key things that came out of last Thursday’s meeting...
Actions
1.Create perinatal mental health forum in Stockport to bring together statutory services, primary care and the 3rd sector providing support to parents
- Get NCT classes content checked to make sure it contains a module on perinatal mental health
- Improve education and knowledge of perinatal meental health among HV and MWs
- Provide HCPs with info on where to refer women (Maura Appleby is working on a resources doc which includes support groups in Stockport)
- Think about creating an app for support
