2 year old development checks?

Hello everyone
We've just moved to Haringey from Hackney and finding theres huge differences in GP / health visitor services... My son is almost 2 and I believe is due a development check. The GP was useless, saying they don't do that at GP surgeries in Haringey and I need to find a health visitor to do this.

Are HV located at Childrens Centres? It feels like the 2 year check up is something I need to make happen if I want it, otherwise would slip through the net. Any advice on whether Haringey offers this service and how to best go about it much appreciated. Thank you!

Haringey Health Services seem never to have recovered from the exodus and destabilisation following Baby P imvho.

I had my first baby in 2007 and a HV visited and there was a 1 year old check. Two years later and another baby, no contact from Health Visitor following birth (I called at 28 days as there's a statutory responsibility for them to visit), and someone stuck a photocopied booklet about swine flu through my door without even knocking.

Never been offered any sort of check.

You could try a local Children's Centre, but for any specific concerns, contact your GP.

The check is done at 27-30mths. We have had an appt letter through the door with a questionnaire and we are seeing the HV at Hornsey Central Health Centre tomorrow to go through the questionnaire and chat about development.
If you feel you have been missed out due to your move give the team at Hornsey a call and explain the situation.

Thanks for the replies. After many dead-end leads, finally found HV team at Tynemouth Health Clinic. So not childrens centres at all, despite what GP told me. Anyway, the team there seem very nice, if a little slow to make things happen. They've sent out the 2-yr old questionnaire for me to fill in and finally have an appt in three weeks.
So it can happen...if you make it happen. Feel like if had waited would never have been offered!

I was told the 2 year check isn't done in Haringey anymore. I have 2 dc diagnosed with ASD so was surprised that my youngest dc wouldnt be offered an appointment. I spoke to the H.V team at The Laurels (S.T Anns Road).
