My sons birthday is at Christmas. Last year we went to The Bull Theatre Panto and it was really good. My son is aged 8. Do you think, as a change from "normal parties" that it would be good to take him and his friends to a pantomime as a birthday treat instead of holding a party?

We're just looking at pantos now (for our seven year old). I think it's the perfect age for a panto and going to one as a birthday treat is a brilliant idea! There are so many 'normal' parties that I think they can just roll into one!

Thank you pickled peaches. We did use that as his birthday party. It worked really well. One of the characters got kids up on stage and then they could have their photos taken at the end with the main characters in costume. We loved it. The Bull have an Easter Panto coming up but it's just going to be my son and I this time. I mean £10. It's the price of a cinema ticket and at least a Panto is a live show.
