Advice on Theale area

Hoping someone knows Theale and the area heading towards Thatcham? Any recommendations of playgrounds, nice parks to walk around with a pram and any other family places/activities?

There are several good playgrounds in this area suitable for primary and pre-school children. They include Theale (nr Holy Trinity church), Aldermaston Wharf (opp Butt Inn), Bucklebury (at the recreation ground) and Woolhampton (by Village Hall on A4). In Thatcham, I'd recommend those at the Nature Discovery Centre (off Lower Way) with a visitor centre and café overlooking a wildfowl lake. It's also possible to do great family walks from all these - as described in the paperback Weekend Walks West of Reading (Amazon, the NDC and local bookshops)! The walks along the canal towpath at Aldermaston Wharf and around the lake at the NDC should be fine for a pram.
