Clare House - Reception Class

Hi there

I'm currently living in Buckinghamshire and plan to move back to Beckenham within the next few months.

I was wondering if anyone knew what my chances are of my son (currently in reception) getting into Clare House if we move to within the catchment area? I will apply there anywhere and keep my fingers crossed, however I just wondered if anyone happens to know what my chances are of a successful application!

Thank you :-)

I know a few people who children are currently in reception at clare house and are currently full. As you probably know it's a very oversubscribed school in where children rarely leave. So even if you live next door it still depends on whether someone leaves the school and where you are in the waiting list.
You may need to try some of the other schools in Beckenham which I know Valley, Bromley primary and balgowan do not have spaces either and is usually a waiting list for those schools. Worsley bridge may have space you will need to check with the La and I know Harris Beckenham primary (new school opened in sept) definitely have space and I think you apply direct to the school

Hope that helps

That is hugely helpful, thank you so much. I had a feeling that would be the case but good to have a heads up.

Will try Harris in Beckenham.

Thanks again :-)

Hi Charlotte,
Welcome back to Beckenham. As the PP have mentioned, Clare House is oversubscribed and I imagine there may be a waiting list for places. I can tell you though that my little boy is currently at Harris Primary Beckenham and is very happy there! The teaching team are fantastic, all the facilities and equipment are brand new (and there is plenty of it) and the cohort of children is lovely...because we are a new school, it is an intimate setting and everyone knows each other. I highly recommend it! I've included a link to the public FB page run by local parents for those joining 2016 in case you find it useful...the school does still have a few places for 2015...we'd love you to come on board! If you have any questions we might be able to help with, just shout! Best of luck with your move and schools search

thank you so much for that info on Harris Primary. That is good to hear. I grew up in Beckenham, so now coming back after all this time, I feel very out of the loop regarding which schools are good, which aren't etc....so word of mouth is really helpful. I'll find out the catchment area for Harris and get cracking with my application.

Huge thank you again :-)

You're welcome. Maybe see you at the school gates!

Harris is a great option. As described above and an excellent headteacher. We had options of Marian Vian and Unicorn but no regrets over Harris. Ps I'm a senior leader in a school so clued up on what I'm looking for. Good luck.
