TO LET: Popular cafe premises on route of Capital Ring next to award winning historic listed gardens. In need of some modernisation, its unique location next to an ancient common and free parking has outstanding views over the new Wandle Valley Regional Park. This offer provides an amazing opportunity for the right tenant looking to invest to establish a long term profitable business.
In October 2013, SCCoop set up a petition calling on Lambeth Council to ensure that the renewal process of the lease for the Rookery Cafe, which expired at the end of December 2014, is carried out in an open and transparent manner. www.sccoop.org.uk/…/sccoop-starts-rookery-cafe-petit…
Hundreds of people signed this petition which is copied below. Cllr Edbrooke during questions at the AGM confirmed that SCCoop will be consulted on the process which will see the cafe vacated by the middle of November.
Popup Cafe
SCCoop thinks it is vital that a cafe is kept open while permanent new tenants are found, for both the amenity of park users, and also for the income that the lease generates for the park.
We would like to ask for anyone interested in setting up a temporary popup cafe or other suitable use of the space that provides some form of food and drink to get in touch with us at [email protected] so that we can put them in touch with the appropriate council officers.
Going Forward
We welcome your views on what type of facility should be there, although not forgetting economic realities of course!. Please join the discussion below.
Things to consider are opening hours, cost, ambiance, food offer, capital investment, licensed, community engagement, affordability and much more.
