I went to the open day last night and I felt rather underwhelmed. There has been so much hype about the school being so fantastic academically, I was expecting a nice looking school. My first impression was that it looked more like a 1960/70s comprehensive that had not been updated in all that time. I was disappointed.
Having teachers wearing robes as if they are in Harry Potter or a posh private school seemed so pretentious, especially as they are dressed like wandering around a 1970s comprehensive and not a nice old building. It seemed so incongruous - it made me laugh.
The headmaster's talk was the same as any school and nothing special. The teachers seemed ok and were able to answer my questions. To be honest, I found Marlbrough Science more impressive (also a 1970s looking comprehensive). It has left me quite confused.
If ds gets in, he will be going to Parmiters anyway, but I am not sure why I feel so indifferent to it.
