Sheen Mount Primary - feedback

Hello,

We are looking to move to East Sheen in a month or so and would love to meet up with local parents and get involved with the local community in the area! I believe Sheen Mount Primary would be closest to us. Are there any parents here who send their DC to that school? I would be very grateful for any feedback on the schools. My DS is a sensitive boy (and a summer baby to boot) and I am looking for comfort that the school provides not just academic results but also excellent pastoral care!

I have also heard/read that the school is considered to be some sort of a state 'prep' school. Is that correct? What secondary schools do leavers from Sheen Mount attend? I hear that a vast majority do head to the independent schools, presumably with a lot of home tutoring. Is that correct?

Grateful for any information on the school's atmosphere and exit results.

Thank you!

I went to Sheen Mount between years 2000-2008. I received very good SAT results and was allowed to take level 6 exams. I went onto St Pauls School Barnes currently ranked 9th in the UK based on A level results. Many peers went to schools such as Hampton, LEH and KGS the first two ranking in the top 25. I believe that the structutre of the school is one which is highly rated and many top secondary schools work with the school on activities and trips. Any other questions just let me know.

Are there any more up to date views on this school? I believe it still has a very good reputation but the last ofstead report is now 10 years old so very difficult for an outsider to know and judge. Any comments would be helpful!

soodster I don't know the school but this is it's performance table record and it looks like it's doing well on results. It's in a very affluent area so that might be influenced by intake & tutoring but it sounds like that's the sort of school you're looking for. It doesn't say anything about pastoral care of course or how happy the school is, or how well they cater for sensitive types. You might want to visit to find out more about that sort of thing if you can't find any current parents online.

By the way, schools don't "provide" results and state primaries don't "prep" kids for the 11+. You'll probably find there is a lot of external tutoring going on, and some of the kids might be a bit stressed.
