Essex County Council wish to close all the Register Offices around the county, moving them into libraries.
People who are registering births and particularly deaths need a respectful environment; somewhere where they can get the help and consideration they need at these very different but equally important moments in life. A library with its very different clientele is an unsuitable location.
Essex County Council also wish to close all Decommissioned Wedding Rooms (Register Office Weddings) meaning that people with have the choice to drive to Chelmsford or pay much more to have a wedding in a local venue.
Many people want to get married in a Register Office (Decommissioned Room), to take this choice away and put the cost of a venue at the mercy of the private market is unacceptable. Please click and sign to save our register offices
