St Marys or Wythenshawe?

I'm newly pregnant and have to choose between these two centres to register with, not sure which to go for. Any experiences, positive or negative?

Both are brilliant. Choose the easiest for you to get too. We were StM but friends were 50/50. All good. StM can get exceedingly busy but we had great experiences

Only have experience on St Mary's - they were brilliant. They can be quite slow for routine stuff due to how busy they are - antenatal appointments, scans - but if there are any issues that need dealing with quickly they are incredible. My textbook pregnancy ended up in a failed induction and emergency caesarean and the whole team was incredible from start to finish.

I had both my dc at Wythenshawe.

DS was a long, traumatic labour and I needed a fair amount of intervention which resulted in a blood transfusion afterwards but I was never made to feel scared or worried. They handled me really well and I felt safe.
DD was born in their birthing centre, in the pool, really lovely.

A few friends have had theirs at St Mary's and also said they were excellent.

I think either will serve you well.

Have you considered home birth or Salford Birth Centre (St Mary's)?

Would echo the previous posts about St Marys. 1st pregnancy, ended up delivering there because I had premature twins (it wasn't my local hospital but it was the only place that had 2 x intensive care neonatal beds) and they were amazing. And I mean out of this world - actually think I wouldn't have had my twins if I had delivered anywhere else. We were there for nearly 3 weeks - just incredible care for me and the babies throughout.

2nd pregnancy - had the choice you had - chose St Marys. Had all my antenatal appointments there- I was high risk so I had quite a few and although they were delayed every time, the care was brilliant. On the night I delivered, I was the last lady to be admitted before they closed the unit because it was so busy. But I had a midwife with me through the whole labour.

Even though it was busy, when I went on the ward afterwards (4 beds to the ward) I was the only lady on it. Midwives on hand to help with settling etc.

I echo that. Both times I had midwife with me throughout at StM
