Any suggestion of an area?

I will be relocating to Cambridge from other country. Since I have no idea of the area, can you all please give me some advices? Thank you.
My hubby will be working in great Shelford. I have two kids and they are about to go to nursery and primary school respectively.
I had a search of the area and found that the property is very expensive and we are unable to afford. Is there any other places that my husband commute to work in an hour as well as having good school?
I have some places in mind such as Peterborough, Newmarket and Hertfordshire. Are there places good? Thanks in advance for the advice. I look forward to the move and meeting up with you all. xx

Places like Sawston, Haverhill, Ely, Cambourne would be quite a bit cheaper and you could easily get to shelford in under an hour (Ely perhaps longer), but there's a train service there. Lots of good schools around. Are you hoping that your children will start school in September?

Hi Tid1, thank you for your response. I will do check out the places as advised. Fortunately, my children will not be going to school in 2017. Therefore, I wills suppose to apply for a school in late 2016, right?

Have a look at Melbourne and Royston they are about a 20 minute drive or train ride to Shelford and are quite reasonable. The schools in Melbourne are also good.
