Friend-making thread - Manchester edition

Hello all Grin

Here is our very own thread to get to know each other a bit, and organise a meet up.

A few thoughts:

How about the Trafford Centre as a convenient central meeting point? Coffee shop?

I work full time so can only make it evening or weekends (unless you all want to Wendy me by meeting up in my absence, of course).

This might be a weird idea but I've always found it much easier to get to know people at a regular thing. Anyone up for a book club or similar? Obviously once we have met and confirmed none of us are axe murderers

Hi all, i'm 28, married & live in Tameside. How is everyone? I have a 2.5 year old DD and am 29 weeks pg with a boy. I love reading, running, netflix! Fave programme is The Walking Dead, fave books - Harry Potter! Would love to make some friends - I'm really shy so struggle to get talking to anyone.

Sparkleandsmile · 10/08/2015 13:32

Hi MMBT77. I live in Oldham and I am too very shy. I'm always in Tameside tho, the play centres there are much better?!

Jolleigh88 · 10/08/2015 19:45

I found it!! (Mini victory for me Smile )

I'm a single mum, 27 very soon. Trafford Centre is quite local to me. DD is 16 months. I'm studying and volunteering at the moment and the studying doesn't leave much room for hobbies but I'm nearly done until next year.

Up until the friend-finding thread, I was sure the vast majority on here (at least 60-70%) were Londoners!

MMB Fear The Walking Dead starts on the 23rd!!!!!! Grin

LintRoller · 10/08/2015 20:25

The Walking Dead TV Club anyone? Grin

I'm in Lint! I get far too excited about Zombies Grin

FourKidsTwoDogsNoPatience · 10/08/2015 20:54

Hi Everyone < shy little wave >

I am in Tameside. 38 and my nickname says the rest! I've lived here for nearly 7 years and I still don't feel like I've made many friends. I like reading, baking, crafty stuff, dog walking in all weathers. I also like drinking tea and eating cake.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 10/08/2015 20:59

This is excellent - there seems to be plenty of us!

Looking forward to meeting up.

LintRoller · 10/08/2015 21:16

Right so let's do Trafford Centre, somewhere with tea and cake.

What days/times suit people?

(I am spectacularly bad at organising things by the way. Just so you all know Grin )

Also it's fine if people just want to use this thread to quietly get together with their neighbouring MNetters, I know it can be daunting going to big group things. PM each other and I won't be offended Smile

Ha ha me to Jolleigh! Can't wait for the 23rd, looks really good!

Hi Sparkle - yes, there's some good soft play centres - we're near Slide and Seek, Some nice parks too.

Jolleigh88 · 10/08/2015 23:15

I'm fairly easy with dates and times. That is, if this is a with-children meet? Slightly more difficult without as I don't have a huge amount of childcare options.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 11/08/2015 06:56

If it's with DC - Tuesday/Thursday and Friday afternoons suit me best (DS at nursery!).

If it evenings, Monday and Fridays are best.

LintRoller · 11/08/2015 10:31

I have a day off on Friday 28th August, does that suit? Can do morning any time, or afternoon from 4pm. Kids fine I reckon. Alternatively evenings most days.

The 28th works well for me Smile

LintRoller · 12/08/2015 13:34

Great Smile It's probably going to have to be the morning for me. Is 10am ok? Can be later if people prefer.

Post on here if you're planning to come, and I'll PM you all with the meeting place to maintain a bit of privacy.

I'll grace you with my presence... if you play your cards right

Jolleigh88 · 14/08/2015 01:01

I'm really quite crap at cards though my ability improves with alcohol

Will you come anyway?

Bleakhouse1879 · 14/08/2015 11:23

You've managed to twist my arm!! JOLLEIGH: What are you studying?

Jolleigh88 · 14/08/2015 23:45

Not cards Wink

I'm just finishing an access course for nursing, very much hoping to study children's nursing at uni from next year.

MARTIN1 · 16/08/2015 22:59

Lintroller: It's gone quiet, up the momentum, pronto
