Hi all,

we are considering to move to Nuneaton in a few months (area of Queens Elizabeth Road). How it is nowadays? I read different opinions but everything was at least 3 years old and I know it may change a lot since then. What about local schools? Thanks

I'm not too far from there. It's lovely, we've been here for 7, nearly 8 years, and love it. We originally planned it as a stop-gap for 5 years til we could afford somewhere like Henley-in-Arden, but now that we've put down roots I don't see us leaving til the DCs are at Uni.

The town centre is a bit meh and for nights out it's a bit too young for proper adults, but our little corner of it is lovely. The schools locally have improved hugely too, I think if you're on QE Road you might be in the Camp Hill or Nathaniel Newton catchment; I have friends who work in both and both friends rave about the schools, especially NN. Michael Drayton is the junior school local to there and I've got nothing but great things to say about it. Not sure about Hartshill as no experience of it, but there's also Queen Elizabeth in Atherstone that's supposed to be a great school.

Al things considered I love where we are. And the new houses on that road look lovely.

Nuneaton is absolutely fine. There are plenty of amenities that will satisfy all the shopping/family social needs. Coventry is really close as well so easily travel-able to get to further shopping etc.

The centre is, as the previous poster mentioned, meh. It is sufficient with places to eat and all the basic shops. The local hospital is very good as well. Especially the maternity unit (in case that's on the agenda).

I'm afraid I can't comment on schools for you but I've heard lots of good things about Higham Lane senior school.

Hi

My youngest has just finished at Hartshill school, he went to Michael Drayton and also galley common infant school as I live in the middle of all galley common and hartshill.

I moved from Coventry and love it here =)
