shirley and chesterton primary

My neighbours are really happy with the Shirley school. What are your thoughts on the new school in Chesterton? I heard that it is more difficult to get into it. I like that it is a small school but dont know anyone who has children there.

I know 3 or 4 families who have children starting there in September. Their settling in process seems great and I am impressed with how much they have done. We seriously considered it for my son (just finished reception) although decided against in the end as we are just out of catchment. We really liked the look of it when we looked around though.

I do know that one of the original teachers there is leaving, not sure why after only 2 years. And that they have excluded one child already - again I don't know the background though and this is hearsay. And I have also heard there is quite a lot of pressure on the children ahead of their first anticipated ofsted inspection.

Fwiw we love The Grove and I know lots of Chesterton parents who chose that over either of the Chesterton schools.

Hello, my only contribution here is to say I have 2 children who attend the Shirley. They are both happy and doing well.
I don't know much about Chesterton Primary but know the relationship between Shirley and Chesterton Primary is healthy with older children popping into the smaller school weekly to play with the younger children and be good older role models.
You really need to visit any school you are interested in to get more information. Also look at the school websites.
