St George's Bickley or Raglan?

Hello! We are moving from another borough and our son will join a primary school in September (hopefully!). We will live in the Chatterton Road area and the nearest schools are Raglan and St George's. I have met the Head at St George's who is very impressive and the results are excellent. I understand the school was not always like this but it seems on a good track now. Raglan is much nearer to us but on paper it seems less impressive. SATS results have been average in recent years (as far as I can see) and I think the Head is temporary?? I need convincing as to whether Raglan is stable and has a good academic reputation. People seem to rave about it and I know it has a small catchment area, so I'd like to understand why it's so well regarded. Thanks so much in advance for any thoughts or advice.

Basically, my neighbour has always said her child was in the language unit because of his cleft pallate. Now I know children with cleft pallate who didn't didn't have additional speech needs in primary school. And in fact I know my own child did need a speech and language therapist and doesn't have a cleft pallate or any other needs. Only a speech delay for a while. But, as I said, this is what my neighbour told me. So I will try to find out more at the open day if there is any time for it then. Thanks

Fair enough Smile. It really is a friendly school and I'm sure none of the SN parents mind being asked questions about our DC; it can only help the kids understand each other.

Thanks for pointing it out though. It has at least made me look into what their website says about this class and it makes a lot more sense than what I had been told.

I'm going to the open days of these two soon. If anyone has any more views, comments, suggestions, experiences... They want to share they will be very appreciated.

I have been to four other open days and really, most seem ok - although I have my preferences in terms of what would suit my child best.

Thanks

UndertheF1oorboards,
Having been to all but one of my open days I can totally see what you were saying.
Such different approaches.
I think we have a favourite. Just one left to see.
