While everyone else digs into their yummy meat I like to marinade halloumi cheese with mint, lemon and olive oil. I then thread onto kebab skewers with veg (courgettes and peppers are especially good) and chargrill. It's always really popular and not just with the vegetarians!

I love chicken on the BBQ but don't like it when it gets dry. I marinade chicken breasts in lime juice, with a few chili flakes (depending on how hot you like them), crushed garlic, finely chopped ginger and sesame oil. Makes a great oriental tasting marinade and keeps the chicken nice and moist too :-).

Bacon - grill it to get everyone's taste buds in the mood.
Goes with everything; adding a kick of salt and bringing a crunch factor to the humdrum burger.

We love to add some spicy bean burgers to our BBQ:
1 tin of cannellini beans, drained, 1 tin of kidney beans, drained,1 slice of bread, 1/2 onion, 3-4 small mushrooms, 1 egg, 1 chilli, finely sliced, 1 tsp ground corriander, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp chilli powder or a few drops of tabasco sauce, Fresh corriander. Blitz the bread and fresh corriander together to make breadcrumbs. In a blender put the beans with the breadcrumbs and egg. Blend together but leave chunky. Stir in the rest of the ingredients until combined. Dust hands with flour and shape mixture in to burger shapes. This mixture makes 4 VERY large burgers or 6 smaller ones. Put burgers on BBQ until brown and hot all the way through.
