Hi,
We are planning on moving to Dundee in July and we have option to take Nine Wells hospital accommodation near Hillside and St Ninian's primary schools. Does anyone know about these schools? Or should we just find our own accommodation in Broughty Ferry where we heard the schools were good.
Thank you
Widad

My daughter goes to Hillside which we are happy with - however there is a lot of changes afoot with schools in this area. Hillside is merging with Carse of Gowrie primary and a new school is being built, although I'm not sure exactly when this is happening - the headteacher of Hillside is now head of both schools but the building work hasn't started yet. The local secondary school is probably closing and being merged with another school, which has caused a lot of unhappiness in the area.

Basically I'm happy with Hillside but there's a lot of changes on the horizon! Have you been in Dundee and had a look round different areas? I have lived up in Menzieshill (ie near Hillside Primary) for 10 years and am fairly happy there but Broughty Ferry is nicer!

Thank you for your response. I hope to come down and have a look like you said. I guess those changes and merges wont be happening this year...otherwise, maybe you would have more specific dates.

If the proposal to close the high school is approved, then it will be closing at the end of the next school year (ie June 2016). There was a rumour that they are going to temporarily move the primary schools into the old secondary building after that until the new building is started. But as far as I know there are no major changes planned for the next school year.

Depends how long you are thinking you would be in the area for - my short term contract at the university has been extended a few times and somehow ten years have passed.
