Moving to Harpenden from abroad

Hi there,
We are planning to move back to UK after some years away. We will be looking for a rental property but I'm stunned to see the requirements that Real Estate Agencies are asking from tenants now, akin to your first born! As we've been away for so long we won't meet their stringent requirements. Any advice about circumnavigating Estate Agents? Any good internet sites that just deal directly with Landlords? Thanks in advance

We moved to Herts last year; we are expats and we didn't have any trouble securing a property. Not sure what particularly difficult requirements you are referring to; but we used rightmove and went through the standard agents and got the order property we applied for.
