I am from edinburgh but have been living in Greece for the last 20 years. I have two kids (8 and 10) at the local Greek school here but am now thinking of moving back to Edinburgh. Both kids speak English and the elder one reads well but does not write well. Has anyone got any suggestions about good local schools that are able to cope with this type of situation? Also, both my kids are dyslexic, so does anyone know what schools have the best provision for dyslexic kids? Thanks!

Have a look here for the general question of support for learning in Scotland enquire.org.uk/what-is-additional-support-for-learning/questions/reason-why-asl/why-might-a-child-need-additional-support-for-learning
For Edinburgh state schools you need to contact Edinburgh council www.edinburgh.gov.uk/info/20074/schools/388/school_places. So the basic situation is that your school place is determined by your home address, so if you have a preference for a particular school then you need to find a house in that catchment area. You will also need to factor in whether the school has places for both children in the respective year groups.
You will not be allocated a school place until you actually have an address, so you can't get this confirmed before you a drive here from abroad.
If you have the means to access private education, the. There are numerous options in the city who have various levels of support available at a price.

Thanks, those were very useful links. I would be renting somewhere to start with so I could probably need to pick a good place for schools and then contact the local school to see if they feel they could provide the support we would need.

I'd Judt add that all schools have language support and just once you've made the move here any school would support you
