Hi Omsairam I am assuming you mean Coopers. I am looking at Secondary schools for September 2016. My DD is currently in an independent junior but we can't afford the fees into secondary. Personally Priory would be higher up my list than Coopers. I went to Coopers aeons ago and it was a good school, I'd be nervous of sending my DD there, but that is just as much about personality and fit as anything else. Yes you can take a child out of any school but must be prepared to home educate, accept a place at another school that may be no better, get a place easily at a mediocre independent or start now looking at Y9 entrance to the better independents.

Did you keep your DS on the waiting list for any higher preference school as there can be a lot of movement between Sept and Dec?

Lots of DDs friends have brothers who go to local independents, the two most popular being Eltham College and Dulwich. Both are highly academic and competition for places high. Entrance at 13, year 9 starts early in Y7, most want to know 20 months in advance and number of places is usually smaller at y9. More accessible is Farringtons with good pastoral care and lovely grounds but not an academic hothouse.
