Help choosing suppliers for a new kitchen

Hi can any one advise?

We are having a new kitchen fitted and so far have looked at I am looking at Howdens, Magnet, Ikea and Wickes - all seem to have ok ranges but not sure about quality. Anyone got any experience of kitchens from these suppliers?
Does anyone know of any independent kitchen suppliers in Croydon, Merton, Surrey- we are not looking at luxury or custom made but something that might be better in terms of quality and range than the above suppliers?

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

We used Acqua Kitchens, as did many of our friends. They were great.

Hi PeasantPlucker - thanks they look great. Also look expensive though - we are really looking around the £15,000 area think they might be out of our budget?

I had a homebase kitchen fitted recently, and it is one of the higher range ones, yet still reasonably price, so added a few extra luxuries like a boiling hot water tap, a larder unit and a corian work surface. I really love it

Thanks Luppitt Woods - another one to check out that I hadn't thought of.

I know you're not looking for bespoke, but we went to Handmade Kitchens Direct in Dorset. You order whatever you want and you can specify the size (handy if you have odd corners etc). They do really solid, wooden kitchens: much better quality than Ikea etc. It's unpainted so you either have to pay someone to paint it or do it yourself (I did!). We got a fantastic kitchen for about £6K.
