Can anyone recommend an architectural technician or technologist?

I'm looking for someone to draw up plans for a large-ish extension and loft conversion, and then take it through the planning application. It's not complicated enough for an (expensive) architect. Preferably someone who specialises in residential work and has good relationships with the planning department, and who charges on a fixed fee basis. Thanks.

We used the guy named in this document and found him very good and reasonably priced Stephen Friday
He's an architectural designer.
I can't recommend a builder because we haven't got that far yet!

That's helpful, thanks. You're the second person to mention that name to me so I will follow it up.

PS you wouldn't have an email address for him by any chance? I hate cold calling! Thanks :)

He's a bit old fashioned and doesn't use email!

Michael bullivant (Google his name +Cambridge and his website comes up) has done our loft along with the plans for about 5 other friends. You don't get architectural distinction, but he was reliable, good value, personable, and has been working in Cambridge for about 30 years, so knows the planning system locally pretty well.

I would speak to Ashworth Parks. I have had a very good experience with them.
