maybe moving to Oxford

So we may be moving back to the UK to Oxford and I haven't a clue where to start! My knowledge of Oxford dates back to my university days (I didn't go there but visited friends often) and a sibling who lived there in their early 20's, clearly now I have kids our needs are a bit different.
I need a primary school and a secondary for both boys and girls (initially secondary for a boy and primary for a girl) private is out of the question (unless they get scholarships!) but we could use private for one child short term if we have to wait for the right state place.
My son is pretty academic (although has been educated somewhere where standards are lower so exams will be tricky) and ideally would like to continue Chinese and the IB. He also struggles with organising himself (!!) and tends to have a couple of good friends rather than be liked by everyone so I think a smaller school would be better, there again I know small secondary schools are hard to find and probably wouldn't offer the IB! Another child is very musical but sadly too old to get into any of the choir schools (10 going into year 6).
I was wondering about Cherwell and Culham? I do know getting a place in both requires living in two different areas but wondered whether anyone could tell me anything about places and admissions are they both impossible?
If you have children there what don't you like about them? Any other comments about the schools or suggestions of alternatives gratefully received. We are likely to be doing in year admissions for all.
My husband will be doing a scouting trip early summer so I am hoping to have a short list for him!
Thanks to everyone who makes a comment, I am just so excited to be coming home and really want to get some nice schools for the kids. I will check back later but due to the time difference it will be at odd times.

Hello,

We are in a similar situation with 2 DS and looking to move to South Oxford, probably the Wallingford area, by end of school year 2015/16. We will then be looking at a 6th form place and in-year Y8. Any advice on good schools/area will be much appreciated. Does anyone have experience with the European School and their EB?

Many thanks!
