Where to live in South Leicestershire???

So I'm due to start a new job in Northampton and my partner works in Coventry... currently living North Warwickshire in a village not far from Nuneaton. The commute for me to Northampton is a bit too far from here really, so we're looking for somewhere inbetween Coventry and Northampton. Rugby would be the obvious choice, but I've not heard great things and I didn't really like the 'feel' of Daventry. So, we were thinking possibly Lutterworth and surrounding villages and maybe Market Harborough, but wouldn't be able to go any further East than that. Does anyone have any ideas??

Would prefer a small town/large village.. somewhere with at least a shop or 2 and a couple of pubs, nice places to eat not too far away. We're both originally from North Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire, so we don't know anyone down here. Don't have any children as of yet, but will be trying soon, so good schools are a must! Would be nice to be somewhere fairly sociable so that when the time comes I can meet other mums and childcare won't be too difficult to find. Our budget is about £250k.

Any advice/info would be much appreciated!

Lutterworth ticks all your boxes, I'd say! Lots of people move in from elsewhere (although there are lots of people who've lived there for generations too). Schools are good - some very good. Loads of children's activities (toddlers' groups, swimming, even a small soft play area). Your budget gets you a nice house there (nicer than mine!). There are picturesque villages close by too....Should say that it would be worth sorting out your commute very carefully: people commuting from Lutterworth to Coventry are generally on the way before 7am. From MHbro, might be even earlier. There are numerous alternative routes, but all get snarled up by 8am.
