Students at Oakgrove School are participating in Frontline - an arts project in partnership with Milton Keynes Gallery. They are creating a piece of art that will be exhibited in the MK Gallery Project Space in June. They are hoping to be making it around the idea that war is not a game, so are wanting to make their statement with an installation made up of military style toys.
To help them achieve their statement, they are asking for donations of these toys, like toy guns, soldiers or tanks and other military vehicles and toy weapons. Every person who donates a toy gun or a toy will have their name featured on a plaque next to the installation and will be entered into a prize draw the winner of which will be announced at the opening of the exhibition on June the 4th at Milton Keynes Gallery at Project Space.
The collection points are Oakgrove School Reception and MK Gallery Reception until the 28th of April.
For an idea of what to donate, we are looking for toys of military style. They don’t have to be new or in perfect condition, because part of the idea is you getting rid of the toys as not to give to the idea of playing war. The toys will not be returned after the end of the exhibition.
If you want your name featured on the plaque and want to be entered into our prize draw, please attach your name and contact details to the donated toy(s) and bring them to one of the collection points.
Please find a ready to use poster attached. You can help us immensely by printing them out and putting them on a noticeboard, website or other highly visible space in your neighbourhood.
Thank you!
