Hi

Just wondering if lives / lived in haddington? I live in edinburgh, and have most my life, but thinking of moving there so we can get a bit more house for our money. My husband lived there when we first met and loved it but wasn't the family man he is now! Am hoping it might have nice since of community as well and from what I ubderstand schools are pretty decent? I'm in pretty good catchment where I am and it's akways a worry.
Any thoughts welcome, thanks!!

My sister lives in a little village just outside Haddington. Her son goes to the local school (Garvald) & the childcare is better in terms of breakfast/after-school/holiday clubs than where I live in the suburbs of Edinburgh.

There are a couple of good nurseries which don't seem to be over-subscribed, and a private school (Compass).

The disadvantage for them is that they have to commute to edinburgh along to city bypass - it's very busy in the morning. There is also a train station at Drem though.

It is a lovely part of the world. Especially the proximity to the beaches in East Lothian.

It depends on how old your children are, we have friends with teenagers living in Haddington and their parents spend all their time taxi driving them to sporting and social activites back in Edinburgh as the options locally are very limitedl

Thanks for the replies! My kids are 4 and 1 so a little while off needing taxied around, however if we made the move i would want it to be for the long term so definitely something to consider.

I am worried about the commute as well as i am out at the gyle for work so can imagine it would be quite some drive in the morning!

Decisions, decisions...
