Breast feeding friendly places in Croydon

Hi there

I'm a new mum with a 5 week old baby and looking to start getting out of the house a bit more and not being locked away to breastfeed.

Can anybody recommend any bf friendly places in the Croydon area (eg shops, places to visit that have nice mother and baby rooms, discreet areas etc).

I'm a bit out of the loop on this as I last breast-fed 5 years ago. However, I didn't find anywhere in Croydon, or anywhere else for that matter, that was UNfriendly. I can remember that I used to sit on the benches in the Whitgift Centre feeding and no one appeared to know or care what I was doing.

Actually the worst incidences was going into cafes and finding that sometimes the staff were very polite and wouldn't take my order until I'd finished feeding when actually I wanted to order straight away so I learned to be a bit more vocal.

Good luck - it's a bit scary when you breastfeed in public the first few times but then you realise that no one is bothered.

There's a nice breastfeeding room on the top floor of the Whitgift Centre. It's a good-sized, clean room with about 4 comfy chairs and a couple of tables. You need to walk through the baby-change room to get to it. Great for when you're out and about on a shopping trip!
