It's getting hot in here....
As winter fades (we hope!) and the nights get milder, our friends over at Slumberdown bedding have provided us with some top seasonal tips for getting the most out of our downtime.
Temperature regulation is hugely important in achieving the perfect night’s rest, and just like our clothing gets lighter over the milder months, so should our bedding. Mumsnet Bromley had no idea but apparently overheating is a leading cause of sleep deprivation, particularly because many people tend to keep one duvet all year round. Switching to a lighter tog of duvet can really make a huge difference to your night’s sleep over spring and summer. However, if you prefer to keep one duvet year round Slumberdown tell us we should go for something around a 10.5 tog weight.
Watch the dust mites don't strike
Milder nights lead to an increase in humidity; which, especially if we haven’t changed duvet togs, can lead to an increase in dust mites. Dust mites can be found in our carpets, soft furnishings and even our clothing, however, they are usually most prominent in our beds as they feed on dead skin cells and thrive in humid environments. These mites cause an allergic reaction in over 80% of asthma sufferers and have also been linked to both eczema and allergic rhinitis in adults and little ones.
If someone in your household is affected by allergies it may be worth investing in some specialist anti-allergy products as they inhibit dust mites, bacteria and harmful fungus from growing in our family beds. When shopping anti-allergy ranges look for products which have the Allergy UK Seal of Approval as this means it has been extensively tested and is only awarded to goods of the highest specifications.
We have 3 sets of Slumberdown anti-allergy pillows to giveaway. To win a set, simply email [email protected] and tell me why you'd like to win. Competition closes at noon on the 12th April 2015.
Good luck!
