North mid or another local hospital?

Hi all,

I have posted this in the main mumsnet section too so apologise for repeating myself!

I need to register for maternity services and obviously choose a hospital to give birth in eventually! I am currently 7 weeks PG. My doctor says I can choose any hospital I like but obviously it needs to be easy to get to!

Has anyone used North Middlesex since they had an overhaul and new maternity wing / birthing centre? That is our nearest hospital.
Other options are The Whittington, Barnet and UCL I guess...

UCLH is easy to get to for antenatal care because I would go by public transport but I'd be worried about the traffic if driving during the day for the birth....but I expect it would have excellent care because they are a university hospital?

North mid is really close and I like the look of their new building and facilities but can anyone let me know what the staff and care are like?

Any experiences in the last year or 2 would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Thanks Jenny! I have now been referred to UCH for antenatal care but would still be interested to hear about any experiences of north Mid in case I give birth there...

Is anyone out there to advise? I would really love these talk boards to get busy! I wonder if people are spending the time on here reading the listings and then posting on twitter or facebook instead?

I think I'll start a thread to ask!

I've had two friends do UCLH and say it was awful experience & transition into local MW care post delivery was very poor! also imagine if you had to labour on all 4s in back of black cab during rush hour from Enfield into Euston - not great!!

Heard great reports from the Whittington.

Hi HighHoSilver. I'm sorry to hear your friends had negative experiences My friends have had great experiences at the Whittington. I also gave birth (twice) at the Whittington, and while the labour experience was ok (emergency and then a planned C-section) the post-natal care was not good at all.

Mmm, Acer77, not sure how helpful my input is, but I guess it's good to hear from as many people as you can!

Does anyone else have anything to add?

It's probably too late but my niece has just had her first baby at north mid & thought it was great. I had a baby there 13! Years ago & the midwives were wonderful.
