We are considering this as an option for a secondary school for our DD. Any feedback on the school would be much appreciated. Also any feedback on other secondary schools in the Newbury/Reading area.

DD has picked St Gabriel's as her favourite, my concerns are mainly that it is an all girls school and I'm wondering what the bullying situation is like there....in the all girls school where I grew up, there was quite a high level of bullying.

Any info that you can provide would be much appreciated.

Hi, I've just seen this thread and wandered if anyone could give me some advice? I have a dd currently in year 8 at a state school in Newbury. We live quite a way out of catchment and got in purely as it was a low birth rate year. She's at a large school after coming from a very small primary school, and she came to her secondary school with no friends from primary. She's currently having friendship issues (girls can be so horrible) which I'm concerned aren't going to settle. We originally looked at St Gabriel's but as we got a place at a good state school went with that option. I am considering moving her if things don't get any better. I wanted to know if anyone has any experience of their dd starting their late (she will be going into year 9 in Sep) and whether it has been easy to settle/make friends? I know each child is different, she is a friendly girl and I think a smaller environment might suit her better. Does anyone know if there is much bullying there being an all girls school? Any information/experience would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I have just starting working at St Gabriel's and the girls are very friendly and welcoming to new girls and staff. The new girls who have started this term in various year groups seemed to have settled and made friends. If you are still considering a change I would encourage you to come to our Open Morning on Sat 3rd Oct from 9.30am -12 noon as there will be plenty of girls and staff on hand to discuss any concerns.
