Relocating to Chester

Hello,
We are considering a move from Yorkshire to Chester. We used to live in Liverpool but moved to Yorkshire for family reasons, it hasn't really worked out so are thinking of relocating to Chester. I have only been to Chester once but DH knows it a bit and it has all the things we are looking for. We would probably have to rent for a bit till we could find the right house to buy but need to be in the right area for schools. DD is 4 and is starting school this September, DS is 2 so would need pre-school. Looking to move summer 2016 depending on DH transferring his job. Any advice on areas and schools would be greatly appreciated. Thanks x

Thanks for your post, Chester is the capital of the county. I live about 45 mins away and do visit Chester now and again, mainly for tourist things like the Roman tours and walls, the Catherdral which has a fab coffee shop and is right in the centre of the city. And for shopping too as it is mostly pedestrianised. I will tweet these details out for you as I am not familiar with the residential areas, but if you look further down this talk board there are some discussions about living in Chester.

Good luck.

Hi
I moved to chester a couple if years ago from liverpool and it is the best move we ever made. We live in a little village about 10miles outside of chester called Tarvin and we love it.
The local primary school has been fantastic, they have pre school and morning/after school clubs. The school really encourage the children to build rounded skills focusing on education and pastoral care.
We have everything we need, my little boy goes to cubs, swimming lessons and he used to ride (he recently decided horses were for girls)
The community is fantastic and it takes us 15mins to get into chester. I can't recommend it enough, if I can help with any more info please let me know x

Hi ShannahS did you end up moving to Chester?

I've lived in Chester for 3 years now after DH moved for work and it’s a lovely area. My DC go to The King’s School in Chester and I can't recommend it highly enough. Both of them are loving it and often come home talking about what they got up to which makes a change from usual teenage grumbles we used to get! My DS is 9 so he is in the Junior school and my DD is in senior, they now also have a new Infants school called Willow Lodge for 4-7 yo which has been great so far.

Otherwise there is Queens which other mums talk highly of but on a downside it's girls only. Both are selective and so your DC would have to sit entrance exams. Or if you are looking for state I hear Christleton High School and Wirral Grammar are very good options.

Best of luck in whatever you end up doing, Chester is a lovely city and I'm sure you'd love it if you ended up moving!

All the best,

Cheshiremummy9
