Harpenden Highfield Pre-school & King's School

Hi,

I'm thinking of moving to Harpenden and wondered whether anyone can give any feedback (including how easy/difficult it is to get a place) on the Highfield pre-school, the King's school and the surrounding area please? Also, are there any after school clubs for younger children (age 4). Finally, I may have to commute into London by train a few times a week so I was wondering if anyone knows whether there are parking restrictions close to the train station?

Don't know anything about the two schools but re station parking - there is car parking at the station but its full by about 9.00 and costs over £7.00 a day. All the surrounding roads have parking restrictions of one kind or another, principally to prevent commuters parking there. The areas covered by these restriction get bigger and bigger over the years. The council are in the process of extending restrictions in the area known as The Avenues where commuters are currently parking. There are commuters parking in the "nearest " road with no restrictions but that involves a good 10/15 min walk to the station
