Craiglockhart and Oxgangs Primary for Children

Are currently considering areas to buy a house in. Have had a look at Craiglockhart which looks interesting, but have a couple of concerns? Does anyone know how Criaglockhart is for living with children in? How is Oxgangs Primary? I have a colleague who seemed to think it wasn't very good. Are there any playgrounds and parks for children in Craiglockhart? Any other thoughts on why Craiglockhart is/isn't good to live in with children?
Thanks

Hi there, I recently posted on here asking about Oxgangs primary, so you might want to check that out. From what I can gather, it's a really nice wee schoolthe name is a bit misleading as the catchment doesn't cover Oxgangs, just like Craiglockhart Primary doesn't really cover Craiglockhartgo figure! For what it's worth, I visited the nursery recently and was impressed by the facilities and staff. The inspection reports are really positive too.
I find Craiglockhart a great area to live in with a young child. There's lots of green space close by, the canal, the River of Leith walkway, Colinton Dell, Craiglockhart pond and hills. And a great playpark at Harrison park is just along the road, or walk along the canal on a nice day. There are also a lot of classes for babies and children on at Boroughmuir rugby club and also, I think, at Craiglockhart tennis centre. Bus links are great too and you would be well placed for Gorgie farm, the zoo and libraries at Oxgangs, Colinton and Fountainbridge and Morningside. We moved here recently and one of the big pluses was that you get a lot of garden for your money compared with other parts of the south side in our experience. Hope this helps.
