News story about delayed entry into primary school

Good afternoon everyone!
I've seen an interesting news item on the BBC today about delaying entry into primary school. I have a summer baby - born 17th August, due to start school September 2016 - and I have to confess that I have been worried about her being so young but then again not sure holding her back would be the right thing either.
Is anyone else in a similar position?
Has anyone held their child back or did it all turn out OK?
Just thought I would start a bit of a discussion and see what people thought!

Hi, my boy is June born so not as late as your DD but still young. He is Year 1 now and started aged 4 as "normal". He coped fine academically but socially it was difficult for him in the first year. That said, he was pretty bored at preschool as he's quite able. It's a tricky one!

Yes I suspect it's different for each child and there is more than the academic aspect to consider. Thanks for sharing your experiences - I hope your boy is enjoying school now!
