Recommendations for 24 Hours In Croydon

Croydon is going to be the subject of a ‘24 hours in…’ feature on Mumsnet’s national homepage in late March.

Can you help me to identify some of the best places to go and things to do, with children and without.

Topics that MNHQ might ask me about include:

  • Things to do outdoors / indoors
  • Hidden gems
  • Free entertainment
  • Places to shop
  • Eating out with (or without) children
  • Child-free night out
  • Attractions worth visiting further afield
  • Places to stay

I'm looking forward to seeing whether you can think of any places I haven't tried yet. If there is anywhere you think a new person to Croydon really should be told about, do let me know.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Coombe wood! Magical dog-free child-friendly woodland with excellent cafe. Perfect for exploring, kicking through leaves, bug hunting, bird box counting, gruffalo spotting and learning about trees and plants. Good in all seasons. On Mondays, nature play in the woods from 10.30am.

We've lived in croydon for 5 years (sanderstead) and before we arrived, I wouldn't have believed a place like that existed in Croydon. And the best bit is, there are loads of similar places! Kings Wood, Croham Hurst, addington hills, sanderstead plantation. Who knew we were in such a wonderfully woody place? Smile
