Hi there.
We are living at North London at the moment planing to move to SE18 this year.Have seen some good value houses (lots in the up to £240K) range and hope someone can give me a sense of what the areas are like. Woolwich Arsenal seems good with the DLR intersection but I know it can seem threatening at night.
Plumstead, I don't really know much about at all. I know it's got an old High St and a couple of good parks.
I'd really appreciate.
Thanks

We moved from Crouch End in North London to Plumstead Common (renters to buyers, hence the move) and for us it was worth it. We have a toddler and another on the way but the move allowed us to have a house rather than a flat, and there's lots of provision for toddlers and babies in the area. There is so much green space in the surrounding area it's fantastic.

Woolwich has better connections but I think Plumstead is better to live in. I commute easily from Woolwich. I haven't come back late at night very often but Woolwich has been ok when I have, I live right on a bus route though which helps. I've also come back late to Welling which was fine too. Not sure about Plumstead station, I'd feel a bit nervous coming back there alone at night I think.

Has its down sides in that there are few places to go for a coffee and no nice shops. Also if you've young children you will probably want to drive if you don't already.
