Save Lewisham's children's centres!

It appears that Lewisham's children's centres are under threat as a result of budget cuts. This is a really sad state of affairs - these centres help so many people each and every week.

From a personal point of view I have to say that I have spent a lot of time in Lewisham's children's centres, especially after the birth of DS when I struggled with PND. I know first hand the difference that these centres and the people who run them can make.

Please share your views, opinions and experiences here, and we will share them with the council as appropriate.

As a teacher of EYFS children I see the need, daily for Children's Centres.

These budget cuts are so short-sighted, and smack of crisis management. The L.A.'s probably know the long term impact closure will have, but are prepared to sacrifice children and parents for economic expediency.

PLEASE - don't be in a position of need!

I think brownies/cubs/ guides are being cut too. Want to start a petition about them too. Furious that kids are so low down the council's list of priorities. Where has all the money from the eyesore developments gone?

Flower68, we hadn't heard that the brownies and Cubs were being cut. We presume you mean their grants or funding? If you have any more details we'd love to hear about it. best to start a separate thread as its a different topic.
