School admissions and September births

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone in the area is facing the same problem as us with the fact that their child will effectively stay in the pre school year of nursery for two years due to his birthday being in September.
My son was born on the 12th September 2011 and therefore will not be eligible to go to school until 2016. He is already in the last and final year of his nursery and will spend 23 months in total in the same class. We feel this is a tragic waste of his learning potential and wondered what other parents did in a similar position.

Did you try and convince the school to take him early, change nurseries or did you just keep them in pre school?

All advice welcome.

Thank you x

He is getting 5 terms of the 15 hrs of preschool provision, if you wish him to.
Kids born later in the year get less terms of preschool. Be thankful you have the choice, if you wish to take them up of longer playing before he hits full time education.
