Hi fellow Mummies,
Our little family (me, husband, 3 year old daughter and 2 pugs) currently live a happy life in Leigh on Sea Essex. We are in as 'rural' an area as it gets around here, right by a big woodland park. We see horses daily, a 20 min walk from the old town (not busy/built up) sea front and have a town centre a short drive away.
There are no real problems with where we live. But recently a few very saddening things have happened to people close to us and it has made us question a lot! Living here is very expensive and so we haven't had a holiday (besides the very occasional camping trip) in 10 years. We don't get many 'days out' or treats. I know lots of live this way and we really can't complain as the woods and seafront right next to us are free. But unless it is summer we don't benefit from them. We would like to be able to enjoy life a little more.
It seems in Norfolk we could have the same size house for half the money.
My OH works from home and spends around 1 day per week/fortnight in London so commute is not so much of a worry.
I have spent many years holidaying in Norwich as a child and teen and loved it. We also have family who moved to Diss and their lifestyle/house seem picturesque.
Can anyone offer any advice on family friendly places to live please? We like rural, quieter places but not so remote that little ones/teenagers get bored.
Areas with good schools, pre schools etc. We really have no idea where to start looking. We just know that after a few heart breaking events happening this Christmas we need to start enjoying life and each other.
