Local Mumsnet Ambassadors Wanted - Opportunity for Special Discounts

Thank you to those wonderful people who have been flying the Mumsnet flag and organising regular Meet-Ups of local mumsnetters. We really could do with more of you though as we currently have only a couple of active groups.

Why not volunteer to be a Mumsnet Ambassador in your area? I am looking for people who are willing to organise the setting up of more "Meet up" groups - which will then be advertised on the Meet-ups tab. I am in the process of contacting local businesses to get some local business offers set up on the site and I will be seeking to get some special discounts agreed for our local ambassadors. The deal will be that if the ambassador writes a review of the business and puts it on Mumsnet they get the discount the businesses are willing our Ambassadors.

Visit the Meet up tab or get in touch with me for more info.

thanks
Michelle

Incidentally, I notice that the North Yorks WI are looking for volunteers to help sew together the little jerseys that were strung around Harrogate for the Tour de France - they want to make blankets to give ot Oxfam to be sold. They are looking to get most of the work completed by the end of February. Maybe an ideal project for a new Ambassador to coordinate with a new group of Mumnetters in any of our areas if you fancy a coffee evening with a mission?! I will of course be asking for photos of what you create!

Here is the extract inc contact details for anyone interested in the challenge. If anyone does make contact with Sue about this please can you let me know or post a reply to this message to that effect. That way we can ensure that we at least know if there are multiple people who have offered their services and connect together where possible/appropriate (the more we can group people together the better):

Last July, members of North Yorkshire West Federation donated 1,200 miniature knitted jerseys to Harrogate Borough Council to be strung up as bunting for the Tour de France. With around 27,000 jerseys sent in from around the world, it was a very striking and memorable project.Rather than have all that hard work go to waste, the council is now asking for volunteers to sew the jerseys together and create blankets, which will be donated to Oxfam. If any groups or individuals would like to help, please call Sue Wood at Harrogate Borough Council on 01423 500600, ex 51096. She is also happy to come and speak to any groups about the Tour de Bunting project, and show people examples of the blankets to help them get started.

They're hoping to get most of the work completed by the end of February, I think, .....

The Lovely people of Little n Lovely (ebay-based quality pre-loved baby boutique who now operate in Harrogate) have now offered £10 worth of quality baby/toddler clothes FREE for the first volunteer to be Mumsnet Ambassador for Harrogate/Knaresborough (subject to them being accepted into that role).

If you are interested in this role just get in touch. The role is ideal for those of you who like socialising and receiving free and/or highly discounted stuff!!! The only thing you need to do in return is write reviews of the businesses who provide the offers and there is no obligation for you to accept the offers from all of the businesses who offer them.
