Though I have birthed here before three years ago (induction led to EMCS) I was wondering if anyone can give an insight into an ELCS.

I have to be there for 7:30am but wondered if they may be lenient enough to allow me an extra hour to get in due to childcare issues.

Also, what is the waiting time like? Do they do many ELCS (mine is a monday) as it would be torturous to be there at 7:30am only to have a teatime c section!!!

Does my DH get fed or does he have to provide his own food? Last time because it was such a traumatic day and an emergency, he had no food or fluids in over 12 hours!!! Just wanting to be prepared and take stuff in if not!

Hi,

In my experience, they are not lenient about arrival time, it's 7.30 and that's that! Mine was a Monday too and as there were no emergencies and I was first in the book, I was in theatre by 8.30 and my dd was born at 9. Obviously if there are any emergency sections you will have to wait but you will likely be done by lunchtime.

Your dh will not be fed so take provisions, or he could just pop out to get food from canteen.

An elective section is fabulous, the surgeons and midwives are calm and there is a positive friendly atmosphere, honestly I had a really good experience at York.

Remember to take your own formula as they do not provide any if you intend to ff. good luck!!
