Prep schools - Hindhead

Hi would be grateful for advice/recommendations on prep schools in Hindhead. I am looking at Reception entry for my DS this September. Looking at Amesbury, St Edmunds and possibly Brookham. Am a working mum so quite tempted by Amesbury which has after school care till 6pm. Thanks for any advice!

Can't speak for Amesbury, but St Edmunds is lovely. They offer after school care until 5.15 but you only pay for the last 45 minutes (it's free until 4.30).

The school itself is very friendly and welcoming. The children are really nurtured and gain so much confidence and make excellent progression. I liked it's mix of the traditional and the fun. The school is just starting to fill up to 16 years so by the time our LO's are 11 / 13 they will have a good schoice of staying at St ed's or going on to another senior school. The school does not expect you to stay and will do everything to find the right senior school for your child. They have only one reception class and the children mix well with other years. You could also start your son off in Nursery for the last term of this year so he could get to know his new classmates ahead of september.

I would recomend looking at all 3 you have mentioned and maybe Haslemere Prep and the Royal? And don't believe a word of what one school may say about another - competition is very fierce in the area.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. We have looked around all three and they all seem to have their pluses and minuses. I liked St Edmunds, it seemed really nice but the pick up at 5.15pm is a real issue. I think I need to have another look around all of them!

Hiya,

My boys both went to Brookham! I know that After school care ends at 5:30,but some of my friends who needed longer hours ask one of the TA's or after school assistants to pick up their kids and take them home until parents get back. This seems to work well amd is quite commonly done.
