Hi,

I am looking at nurseries for a possible return to work in Sept for my little boy who will be one by then. I wonder if anyone can give me any recommendations/advice?

I will need just one or two days as family should be able to help. I am visiting Sunhill and Royston day nursery as they could potentially be close to work and we live in the Shelford/Stapleford/Sawston area but daycare here seems few and far between. Does anyone know of anywhere good within easy reach?

Babraham certainly used to be excellent (mine are a bit beyond that stage now though!)

From first-hand experience, Babraham nursery is excellent. I've heard good things about Bumpkins at Whaddon and poor things about Sunhill at Royston, but have no personal experience of either.

Thank you for your comments- really helpful to get some opinions/suggestions. Babraham looked good from their website but unfortunately it doesn't seem to open early enough for us to get to work (presume the breakfast club is for older children).

Babraham breakfast club is for all nursery children from 7.45-8.45. It does cost extra so is perhaps not the cheapest option. It's never too busy and is very relaxed.

Babraham nursery is very expensive if you don't work for the institute and need to use the breakfast club. It works out to over £60 a day Shock plus they're full to the brink.
Sawston is also excellent but so full they've closed the waiting list. Same goes for rainbow day nursery.
I'm afraid the only option may be Kidsunlimited Long Road.
I would look at Royston if I were you. It may be easier to get a place at a good nursery.

What hours do you need? I very strongly recommend Little Hands in Melbourn, but the hours are shorter than most other nurseries. They have fantastic staff - really well qualified and completely engaged with the children. DD has absolutely thrived there.

Happy Bunnies in Barrington. I don't have a child there but have several friends who do, all of whom can't praise it enough.

There is a nursery on Granta Park at Great Abington. Not sure how convenient that is for you though. We looked around about 5 years ago and liked it, although we ended up with one in Cambridge in the end for logistical reasons.

I found Bumpkins too big. Lots of people rave about Orchard Day nursery in Royston and theres also the Wendy House which is a bit out but has a great reputation. I've heard good things about Little Hands and actually the people I know with children at Sunhill have been really pleased with it. There is also a relatively new nursery called Royston Day nursery in Royston
