Hi,

I am new to this country, so wanted to get some idea on how the top private schools in and around wimbledon compare. We are considering between Wimbledon high, The Study and Putney High.

I am aware of the admission process, but would love to hear from other mums on how they compare on academics, activities, care etc.

thanks a ton!

My DD is at The Study and is thriving, she loves going and from what I can see is learning at a pace that suits her. Wimbledon and Putney High Schools are excellent, but are selective whereas The study is a ballot system.

The results from these schools are excellent as are the results from The Ursuline.

Most of the girls from here go on to very good high schools

The Study has very good after school clubs too, from playball to cake decorating, but not all clubs are available to under year 2's. it also has an excellent music program, and a fantastic choir

As in previous threads that I have contributed to about The Study, I can't praise it highly enough, and wish I had gone there myself.

DD is at Wimbledon High and loves it. In fact all three are great schools, I have never heard any negatives from parents with children at any of these schools.

I don't think WHS has as many after school activities as other schools, but that doesn't bother us as DD does other things outside of school.

I just moved to London as well and am looking into The Study, Holy Cross and Wimbledon High for primary school. Would love to hear more advice on schools or am free to chat over coffee! :)

Hello Nevine, am in a similar position to you at the moment!! We are looking at The Study, Holy Cross and Ursuline.
Have had some absolutely wonderful feedback about The Study (thank you Lupita!!!) and am very keen, but obviously the ballot system may mean we just don't get a place :(
We do have a place at Ursuline which I liked very much on visiting but have heard some negative things about pushing/too much homework... I think DD is academically bright (though I guess every parent thinks this!!!) so am not worried about her 'keeping up', I am just not a fan of too much pressure at eg Reception age when they are still so tiny... Anyone have any feedback on this at Ursuline, positive or negative?
I loved hearing the headmistress at The Study say there was NO HOMEWORK in Reception, though I do recognise that may not suit some parents...
HC is by all accounts a wonderful school but I fear we are too far away to make it practical on a daily basis :(
Nevine, would love to pool ideas with you if you get any. I have also heard great things about the Rowans if you are looking for a pre-prep, though it's mostly boys (I think?)

Hi Everhart, Nevine2015, Primafacie, purvak and LupitaWoods

It just struck me that you might want to arrange a coffee morning somewhere and have a chat face-to-face? Why not arrange one via the Meet-ups page?

Education (and local provision, particularly in the private sector) generates a lot of queries on this Talk board, so it would seem to make sense to get together and have a chat (and who knows you might make some new friends too)? What do you think?

Smile.
